The Opportunity

As a DevOps Database Administrator (DBA), you will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and optimizing our database systems to ensure high availability, performance, and security. You will collaborate closely with our engineering and product teams to support data-driven decision-making and maintain the integrity of our data.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain relational and NoSQL databases for high availability and scalability.
  • Optimize database performance through indexing, query optimization, and monitoring – specifically on Postgres and DynamoDB
  • Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and failover strategies to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery.
  • Ensure database security by implementing access controls, encryption, and compliance measures (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR, SOC 2).
  • CI/CD Pipeline Management – design, implementation, deployment. Integrate tools (specifically on Gitlab) to enable automated workflows.
  • IaC development on Terraform.
  • Monitoring and alerting using ELK, Splunk
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize application database interactions and support data modeling.
  • Monitor database health, troubleshoot performance issues, and proactively address potential bottlenecks.
  • Automate database management tasks using scripting and configuration management tools.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest database technologies and best practices in FinTech.

Qualifications and Experience

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, preferably in a FinTech or high-growth startup environment.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (specifically Postgres).
  • Experience with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Google Cloud SQL, Azure SQL).
  • Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and database indexing.
  • Familiarity with database security best practices and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for database administration.
  • Experience with database replication, clustering, and high-availability architectures.
  • Strong proficiency in DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Java/Spring technologies is a plus

Salary

$135,000 - $175,000 per year
