The Role:

Are you ready to be at the forefront of revolutionizing air mobility? As we embark on the exciting journey towards serial production of our groundbreaking Lilium jet, we are seeking an ambitious and skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our world-class propulsion system production team.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager Operations, you will work together on the design, development, and application of our data management and operational software. Your focus is on the detailed interactions of the IT solutions that define our manufacturing environment, including PLM, MPP, ERP, MES, and big data analytics. With these tools you create and maintain detailed work plans to include EBOM, MBOM, routing, tooling, PPE etc.

You will work proactively with cross-functional teams including design, production, planning, quality, procurement, logistics.

Your Day to Day:

  • Proactively drive the delivery of the Lilium jet’s state-of-the-art propulsion system on time, on cost, on quality

  • Provide daily shop floor support and act as the first point of contact for technician questions

  • Respond to and drive resolution of ANDONs and non-conformities

  • Plan the shop floor work schedule together with the production teams and PP&C

  • Create and maintain comprehensive work plans containing work instructions and time data

  • Determine the necessary production capacities in response to process and design changes, ensuring optimal resource utilization

  • Champion the optimization of manufacturing processes through continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing data-driven insights and industry best practices

  • Develop a lean process flow across our production line to ensure that product, process, and factory design work together as a stable production system

  • Proactively initiate change requests to the design team, facilitating the achievement of high-rate and cost-effective manufacturing goals

  • Develop and implement robust manufacturing strategies, considering technological advancements and industry trends to enhance overall efficiency.

About you:

Bringing proven analytical capabilities, you’ll be a strong written and verbal communicator who loves to solve problems. Interacting daily with a variety of technical audiences, you will be comfortable working in cross-functional teams, developing and nurturing excellent relationships.

You have demonstrated impact in design for manufacturing activities and will show an overall Lean awareness with an eye for simplification, continuous improvement, and consciousness of health & safety factors.

Key requirements:

  • Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree

  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in the field of electric motor production

  • English CEFR level B2 or higher

  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings and specifications

  • Expert in writing concise technical instructions

  • Six Sigma certification desired

  • Experience in aviation start-up companies desired

  • CAD know-how desired

  • Practical experience with PPAP / APQP process desired
