We are currently hiring for our web team who work on developing our public website and internal back-office system (~70/30 split). They collaborate closely with product, design, back-end, as well as app developers, to create the best experience for our members.

Our web is powered by the latest versions of React, TypeScript and Apollo GraphQL. For the public website we also use Next.js and a headless CMS (Storyblok).

What about the role?

As a Staff Web Engineer at Hedvig, you will:

• Spend time developing and improving our platform in collaboration with our design and marketing teams

• Solve issues of code scalability as well as exciting UX challenges, as Hedvig expands both in number of members and products

• Work with high-level business goals and collaborate on finding the right mix of technical and non-technical solutions

• Design GraphQL APIs and collaborate with backend and app developers to ensure we’re making UI development for new and changed features easy

• Co-own the web platform and make strategic choices about how it should look in the future

• Build efficient back-office solutions that support us in providing the best possible service to our members

• You have strong understanding of the modem React / Typescript ecosystem

• You’re passionate about great developer experience and feel the itch to continuously improve the tools you’re using

• You are product minded - can actively participate in discussing where to take the product next, observe user behavior via data, and talk to stakeholders to understand what business problem are we solving.

• Nice if you have GraphQL and Apollo experience or want to learn more about it

• Nice if you understand design and UX and can create good experiences for new features or back-office systems yourself, relying on designers to improve your work rather than to give you directions.

• Nice if you see beyond the visual part of UI - we care deeply about accessibility and SEO of our public website.

• Value knowledge sharing and learning together since you will be part of a team that practices a collaborative approach and takes code reviews to heart.
