Today, Gusto offices in Denver, San Francisco, and New York serve more than 300,000 businesses nationwide.

Our mission is to create a world where work empowers a better life, and it starts right here at Gusto. That’s why we’re committed to building a collaborative and inclusive workplace, both physically and virtually. Learn more about our Total Rewards philosophy.

About the Role:

Our Health Insurance team is growing quickly and we are excited to hire the next members in Denver or Remote. Gusto is fundamentally changing how the world works by empowering everyone to put people first. Gusto reimagines payroll, benefits, HR, and personal finance by automating the most complicated, impersonal business tasks and making them simple and delightful. The Health Insurance sales teams are passionate about combining innovative technology with health insurance expertise to make it easier for more small business owners to offer a great health insurance experience to their employees. Each team member is a true owner and makes a tremendous impact every day.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Collaborate directly with small business owners to analyze their payroll, HR, and employee benefit requirements, and show them how Gusto can meet their unique needs and concerns.
  • Understand prospects' employee benefit goals, identify the most suitable benefits packages to achieve those goals, and empower employees with access to quality health care.
  • Simplify complex terminology related to payroll and health insurance into clear and understandable concepts for clients.
  • Drive revenue by effectively navigating the customer buying process, engaging key stakeholders, and successfully closing deals.
  • Build, forecast, and manage the sales pipeline to meet organizational goals.
  • Deliver comprehensive presentations and respond to technical inquiries with clarity and confidence.
  • Actively listen to understand customer needs and effectively communicate Gusto’s value proposition.
  • Maintain accurate records and notes in a team-wide CRM system.
  • Willingness to pass and obtain active Health and Life Licenses.

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • 1 to 3 years of sales experience
  • Proven ability to engage clients consultatively and successfully close accounts.
  • High activity level: capable of managing a large opportunity pipeline while actively pursuing new prospects.
  • Demonstrates ownership: self-starter who takes initiative and manages targets and projects from inception to completion.
  • Process-oriented: proactively identifies opportunities to enhance efficiency and improve processes.
  • Driven and results-oriented, with a history of consistently exceeding sales quotas.
  • Collaborative team player who embraces diverse roles and motivates colleagues to achieve excellence.
  • Competitive mindset with a focus on delivering the right products to the right customers at the optimal time.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technically proficient with experience in web technologies (Outreach, Salesforce).
  • Bonus: currently licensed to sell Health and Life Insurance.

Our cash compensation range for this role ranges from $77,000 OTE per year to $92,000 OTE per year in the Denver location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, experience, and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.

Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.

When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required.
