About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented execution focused leader to drive efforts within our Payroll Services team under the Insights and Operations umbrella. This role is pivotal in managing dependencies, stakeholder interactions, and program initiatives that align with product teams' objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage complex compliance requirements.

Gusto provides all of the tools businesses need to start, grow and maintain a healthy business of any size and anywhere in the world. Today and in the foreseeable future, Payroll is the core of this offering. The Payroll Services team helps enable this vision, through scalability, accuracy, and operational efficiency of the core Payroll system to support growth of the business.
Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Manage dependencies and interactions for an expanding team crucial to Gusto’s product offerings.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings and ensure initiative alignment between Payroll Services and other core offerings such as GustoPro.
- Act as a liaison between various teams to ensure seamless communication and project execution.
- Lead and oversee key initiatives within the technical product and engineering scope, developing and implementing project plans, monitoring progress, and ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to achieve project goals, including content refinement and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and manage content for All Hands meetings, ensuring it is accurate and comprehensive.
- Understand product content at a fundamental level to effectively prepare for product launches and presentations.
- Dive deep into product details to provide thorough support to the product management team as needed.
- Assist in the development and management of product roadmaps and strategies as needed.
- Stay informed about compliance requirements throughout the year and ensure adherence.
- Own the end-of-year (EOY) compliance management review and closeout process.
Here’s what we're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Nice to have: MBA and/or consulting background.
- Proven experience in program management, preferably within a technical or product-focused environment.
- Strong understanding of payroll services and compliance requirements preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and dependencies effectively.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Our cash compensation range for this role is $139,000 to $173,000 in San Francisco. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.
Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.
When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required.
