The Role

Manager/Sr. Manager - Lab Operations. Highly collaborative laboratory operations manager with industry experience who is committed to streamlining laboratory processes in partnership with R&D.

How You Will Contribute

As Manager/Sr. Manager - Lab Operations you will be responsible for leading effective and efficient laboratory operations, including stewarding laboratory resources, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and facilitating a productive research environment to support Dyno’s R&D goals and projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively steward lab resources, equipment, space, and supplies to support R&D workflows and projects, ensuring R&D goals are met efficiently.
  • Implement strategies to optimize lab operations for cost-efficiency and time-efficiency with an aim to reduce scientists' time spent on operational tasks while maintaining high-quality output.
  • Develop and implement a robust system to ensure shared spaces and equipment are well maintained and functional, minimizing downtime and interruptions to research activities. Document new/updated products and processes as necessary.
  • Nurture the lab community through proactive development, communication, and training of lab personnel, enhancing their research capabilities, skills, and collaboration, to ensure the lab community is maximally successful towards Dyno’s mission.

Basic qualifications

  • BS degree with 5-7 years of proven expertise in managing lab resources, equipment, and supplies within a biotech or pharma environment.
    • Experience with cradle-to-grave equipment management (including installations, service contracts, preventative maintenance, corrective repairs, etc.) and Point of Use inventory management.
  • Strong ability to develop and implement strategies for optimizing lab operations, with a focus on cost-efficiency, time-efficiency, and maintaining compliance with regulatory protocols.
  • Proficiency in developing and managing robust systems for the maintenance of shared spaces and equipment to minimize downtime and interruptions to R&D activities.
    • Proven experience leading lab space planning and retrofits.
  • High-level understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) utilities as they pertain to research labs.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the capacity to foster the development, communication, and training of lab personnel, enhancing their capabilities, skills, and collaboration for maximum R&D success.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to address operational challenges, flexibility to adapt to changing R&D needs, and continuously improve lab processes to achieve the desired outcomes.
  • Track record of successfully interfacing with external service providers and contractors, as well as collaborating with internal support teams.

Preferred qualifications

  • Previous experience working at the bench within a wet lab.
  • Experience with sourcing and/or vendor-managed inventory (VMI) systems.
  • DOT 49 CFR Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) trained with domestic and international shipping experience.
  • Previous experience managing direct reports.
