The Operations Team is a matrix organization within Beyond Meat that is dedicated to creating food products that are leading the gold standard in plant-based proteins. They are looking for an outstanding individual to join the team located in Devault, PA as an Assistant Production Manager for 2nd shift.

The Assistant Production Manager works closely with the Production Manager in maintaining sound and efficient operations of the production lines and staff while keeping food safety as a priority. The team-oriented Assistant Production Manager leads and is responsible for deliverables including production goals, schedule, and staffing changes, and making high-impact operations decisions when issues arise.

TASKS, DUTIES, & GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

  • Establishes a culture of respect, hard work, consistency, and effective communication in the production facility and when interfacing with contacts external to the organization.

  • Maintains food production yields, quality assurance and control methods in a high-speed food manufacturing operation focused on continuous improvement.

  • Adheres to the Federal, State, and District rules and regulations pertaining to food manufacturing operations including both food and employee Safety.

  • Maintains the company’s high standards of food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness in all manufacturing facility areas

Management

  • Oversees all activities on the production floor and leads by providing hands-on demonstration of work processes and expectations

  • Partners with cross-functional peers to ensure greater operational efficiency and reduce costs due to downtime and other inter-departmental dependencies.

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with vendors, consultants, and contractors.

  • Utilizes company production planning tools and resources to maximize facility throughput and workflow.

  • Reviews and analyzes production work processes and implements corrective action for operational improvements.

  • Develops and maintains accurate records, makes mathematical computations, and prepares production reports.

  • Conducts performance reviews and coaching for hourly manufacturing employees.

  • Addresses employee and customer concerns.

Team Development

  • Develops strategies for better workplace efficiency and goal achievement.

  • Participates in hiring, training and development, and the supervision of the production staff.

  • Develops high-performing work teams with a culture of personal and shared accountability

  • Ensures supervisors and team leaders are cross trained on all production lines.

Other

  • Schedules and leads meetings: daily, weekly, monthly

  • Performs other duties, as assigned, and follows through on requests in a timely manner

Supervisory Duties

  • Lead, manage, and supervise production employees, delegate training for all processes within the production area setting.

  • Provide mentorship and training to functional team members

  • Accountable for developing talent through on-going performance feedback and career management coaching.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Technical Skills, and/or Previous Experience:

  • 2 - 4 years of experience in a supervisor role in food production (or food quality)

  • Documented training in HACCP or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

  • Demonstrate knowledge of managing safety and quality programs and processes

  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel, etc.

  • Knowledge of production line equipment and devices

  • Must be able to work in cold temperatures

  • Flexible work schedule as dictated by the needs of the business

SQF / Food Safety Responsibilities

  • Assure compliance with all SQF Procedure requirements

  • Assure compliance with all GMP & Food Safety Plan requirements

  • Assure all products are manufactured in a safe, quality manner

  • Assure compliance with all customer specifications

  • Promote and enforce compliance with all employees

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Warehouse and production manufacturing environment that includes both tempered and ambient areas.

  • Position requires the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, step, balance, crouch, stoop, kneel, squat, bend, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs., reach above shoulders, or as needed to complete tasks.

  • Must be able to occasionally climb stairs or a ladder to complete tasks

  • Position located in a mix of production and office environments and requires a tolerance for consistent cold work environments (0-40˚ F), high worker traffic, loud noises, odors, dust, and varying room temperatures.

  • This position will be required to visit the production floor, refrigerated and frozen storage, and warehouses.

  • Work flexible shifts as required.

  • Understand that overtime and occasional weekends and/or worked holidays will be required based on company needs.

**Annual salary commensurate with experience**

The starting annual base pay for this role is starting at USD $80,000. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for bonus and benefits.
