The Beyond Meat finance team is looking to hire a highly-driven FP&A Manager in LA to augment the FP&A function. The FP&A Manager will be a key member of the Accounting & Finance team, with responsibility for producing value-added financial analytics, both on an ad hoc and ongoing basis, to assist senior leadership in assessing critical business decisions, better understanding industry dynamics, and communicating the Company’s strategy to internal and external stakeholders, including Wall Street.
Reporting to the VP of FP&A and Investor Relations, the role delivers strategic budgeting, variance analyses, links operational performance drivers to financial results, proactively liaises with internal stakeholders and drives continuous improvement to deliverables. In addition, the FP&A Manager will provide day-to-day oversight of junior direct report[s] (Financial/Senior Financial Analyst[s]), guiding their workstreams to ensure timely and accurate completion of team deliverables, continuous process improvements and professional growth.

General Responsibilities (FP&A 70%)

  • FP&A (70%)
  • Designs and implements a formal process to prepare annual and quarterly budgets as well as budget vs. actual variance analysis
  • Proactively partners with department heads to ensure timely submission of budget information, full visibility into budget vs. actual tracking, and develops remediation plans to address any potential issues
  • Performs technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance. Gathers, analyzes, prepares, and summarizes recommendations for financial plans, acquisition activity, operating forecasts and industry developments.
  • Develops, interprets, and implements financial concepts for financial planning and control.
  • Leads development of the company’s long range financial plan
  • Prepares ad hoc financial and industry analyses

Cost Accounting

  • Cost Accounting (20%)
  • Maintain and improve SKU-level costing for both new and existing products. This entails liaising with key stakeholders across various departments, including Sales, Operations, R&D, Accounting and Finance
  • Brings financial perspective and recommendations to new product development and commercialization process
  • Prepares variance and special reports as requested
  • May interpret reports and records for managers

Investor Relations (10%)

  • Assists the VP of Investor Relations in drafting responses to investor and/or analyst inquiries
  • Gathers data to assist with the preparation of quarterly public reports, including earnings press releases, investor presentations and earnings call scripts
  • Compiles benchmarking information relative to publicly-traded, food company peers
  • Monitors industry news and developments and communicates findings to the VP of Investor Relations
  • Monitors changes in shareholder ownership, communicating noteworthy changes to the VP of Investor Relations
  • Ensures data integrity of public-facing information

Supervisory Duties

  • Leads junior direct report[s] (financial or senior financial analyst[s])

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in highly quantitative discipline – e.g. Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, etc.
  • MBA or post-graduate Finance degree
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate FP&A, investment banking or management consulting (including 2+ years post-MBA or other graduate study)
  • Superb analytical and MS Excel skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior management.
  • Previous CPG experience is preferred although not required.
  • ERP Systems and data visualization tools experience
  • Highly analytical and problem-solver mentality
  • Adaptable and willing to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently and strong organization skills

Work Environment

  • Office-environment
The starting annual base pay for this role is between USD 135,000 and 145,000. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
