Meet Anagenex.
At Anagenex, we combine machine learning with massively parallel biochemical tools such as DNA Encoded Libraries (DELs) and Affinity Selected Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) to analyze more compounds more efficiently than ever before. By working with large datasets throughout our search process and letting our machine learning model guide our experiments, we are able to find molecules for the hardest problems in drug discovery, bringing first in class and best in class treatments to patients.
As a fully integrated team of experts in biology, chemistry and machine learning, we work as one to find new medicines. Collaborating across these divergent disciplines gives team members exposure and understanding into differing approaches for solving complex challenges. Autonomy and trust ground our flexible working environment, enabling us to succeed against a broad range of targets in drug discovery.
Introducing: 2023 Selection Scientist
At Anagenex, our drug discovery platform relies on generating large data sets from high throughput screening platforms including DNA encoded Libraries (DEL), affinity selection mass spectrometry (ASMS), and biochemical assays. These screens are the driving force behind compound optimization using our proprietary machine learning algorithms. To this end, we are looking for an experienced scientist to assist in our selection screening platform. Our goal is for this individual to aid in the organization and execution of our portfolio projects. You will also help with technology development projects as well as protein sourcing, pending your experience and professional goals.
You’ll own:
Organization, and execution of portfolio selections
Coordinating with the project teams for the needs of each selection strategy
Next Generation Sequencing for DEL platform and related processes
You’ll assist:
Optimizing protein constructs which will be suitable for selections and biophysical assays
Working with other team members towards technology development goals for the DEL platform
Processing and analysis of selection data and downstream steps
Skills & expertise you have:
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related field with 4-6 years industry experience, Master’s degree with 2-4 years industry experience, or a PhD with 0-2 years industry experience
Expertise in affinity selection techniques (e.g. DEL screen, SELEX, phage display, etc)
Expertise in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)
Expertise with biophysical assay techniques (e.g. SPR, ITC, BLI)
Ability to manage several projects at the same time
Experience analyzing and making decisions from large datasets
Proficiency with automated liquid handlers
Skills & expertise you can learn:
How to run DEL selections and analyze the selection data towards chemistry planning
How to coordinate with and manage relationships with CROs
How to effectively work as a key member of matrix teams and drive projects through matrix leadership
Within 1 month, you’ll…
Build foundational knowledge of what we do at Anagenex as well as our current portfolio
Learn about our selection strategy method, practices for data processing, and efforts towards automating lab work from our current team
Provide suggestions or thoughts on current processes in order to improve our operations
Within 3 months, you’ll…
Understand the process of pre-selection protein analysis, DEL selection, and post-selection workup
Perform initial DEL selections with portfolio targets
Provide project teams with selection plans and timing
Initiate biophysical work on portfolio target lead compounds for in-depth kinetic understanding
Within 6 months, you’ll…
Coordinate with the DEL library team to receive and pool libraries
Plan and execute portfolio selections
Gain an understanding of the DEL selection data analysis
Aid in establishing constructs which will be valuable for selection and post-selection work
Within 12 months, you’ll…
Coordinate across teams to develop a chemistry plan based on the output of DEL selection results
Provide project teams with key decision making information regarding lead compounds
Work cross-functionally with the project teams to enable, data-sharing, and provide input for next steps
